Positive Thinking & Affirmations vs. LOA
Let me start off by saying Positive Thinking is very important in the Law of Attraction process. However, positive thinking isn't enough. Positive thinking is actually a part of LOA. You need to think positively in order to attract what you desire. Where positive thinking falls short is in the words that are sometimes used. For example, here is a positive statement: In my round of golf today, I am going to hit every drive into the fairway (which for you non-golfers, this is ideal). This is a great statement; very positive. The issue here is what you are feeling when you think this thought. What do you think is going on inside your mind after a statement like that? Maybe a statement like this, "Yeah, right. Are you kidding me? Every drive, I'd be happy with 3 drives in the fairway." So the message that is really being sent is the message of doubt. The only time a positive statement sends out a positive vibe is when it is true (i.e., I am going to have a lot of fun playing golf today!) If your experience with this is true, then that is what will happen. The key here is you need to feel that your thought is true in order for it to be a positive vibe. The Law of Attraction responds to your feelings, not your words.
Affirmations are very "in vogue" in some self-help circles, but there is one big problem with affirmations. Affirmations have us tell ourselves something that isn't true and LOA doesn't respond to the words you use, it responds to how you feel about the words you use. Her is an example of an affirmation for someone who is very overweight (40 lbs.): While looking in the mirror at yourself just after you shower (you are naked) and you say, "I love my slim healthy body." I ask you now, what is wrong with this statement? Exactly, it's not true! So what does your mind say after you make this affirmation? "Hey, you can't even see your toes! What are you talking about...slim body." Now the vibe you are sending out is extremely negative and that is what you will get more of.
Law of Attraction statements for the above examples would be as follows. Instead of the above golf statement, a way to phrase that would be...I am in the process of doing all that I can so that I can hit every drive in the fairway. This is a true statement. In fact, once you say this phrase you are putting the process in motion. On top of it, if you practice and take lessons, you are definitely putting the process in motion. In the example about being overweight etc...I am in the process of doing all that I can so that I will have a healthy fit body. This is a true statement too. Again, once you put the thought out there (and you feel it is true), then the process is in motion. And if you are exercising and eating healthy, you are really "in the process" and you are on your way to success.
I hope this was clear and helpful. Please let me know if you need more clarification.
Have a great day!

Thanks Steve, this is helpful. The difference between what you THINK and what you FEEL makes a lot of sense. I have seen positive thinking "fail" when the feeling/belief isn't there. Really FEELING those positive "vibes" takes a lot more energy than thinking positively. I can see what you are saying though, and how this has a big effect on the outcome. Thanks for the clarification! I think I may be calling you for that free consultation to talk about this some more. . .
